MEMBERS of KHK Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) team arrived in Las Vegas to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Amateur World Championships.
The event, which is being organised by IMMAF in cooperation with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), kicks off today and runs until Sunday at the Convention Centre in Las Vegas.
KHK MMA’s delegation includes Russian professional trainer Ahmed Renat, members of the technical staff and six fighters who have been approved by deputy president of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, president of Bahrain Athletics Association and founder of KHK MMA Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The fighters are Hussain Ayyad, Fahad Abdulrazaq, Abdullah Seena, Mohammed Adnan, Abdullah Al Fayez and Ali Ibrahimi.
Russian professional trainer Renat said the KHK MMA fighters are ready for the new challenge and have prepared for it by following an intensive training programme focused on improving the fitness level and fighting techniques.
“Our fighters are ready and raring to go for this new challenge,” declared Renat. “Our team is looking forward to fulfil the ambitions of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
“This event is considered as one of the main in the MMA’s annual calendar due to the level of the participants taking part. Our team possesses great qualities and I am assured that we can achieve great results in Las Vegas,” Renat concluded.
Desire
“My desire is to win a medal here and it is going to be a real challenge to do so in this event,” said Ayyad.
“This will be my last amateur event as I am looking forward to competing at the professional level. Winning here will boost my morale ahead of my new journey,” he added.
“I am aiming for gold here after undergoing an extensive programme. The competition, however, is very high,” said Al Fayez.
