The Match: Champions for Charity—Start Time, How to Watch, Live Stream Tiger Woods, Tom Brady Golf Event

The PGA Tour's return may still be two weeks away but golf fans starved of action can get a glimpse of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson this Sunday.

The duo will be joined by Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in The Match: Champions for Charity, a charity event that will raise funds for the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Hosted by the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, the event will see Woods and Manning face off against Brady and Mickelson over 18 holes. The front nine will be played as a Four-Ball format, with the back nine following the Modified Alternate shot format instead.

As was the case at the TaylorMade Driving Relief last week—when Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy took on Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff—Sunday's event will be played behind closed doors.

Likewise, players will not be able to rely on caddies but will be allowed to drive their own carts around the course.

WarnerMedia, the parent company of CNN, and the four participants will make a combined $10 million donation to COVID-19 relief efforts.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unimaginable tragedy and heartbreak," said Jeff Zucker, Chairman of WarnerMedia News and Sports.

"We're hopeful this event and platform will help raise meaningful funding for Covid-19 relief, while also providing a source of brief distraction and entertainment for all sports fans."

Manning and Brady share eight Super Bowl trophies and eight MVP crowns between them and are as well equipped as anyone else to share the course with Woods and Mickelson, who have won a combined 20 majors and 126 PGA Tour events between them.

The NFL greats are keen golf fans and are regularly spotted on golf courses across the country. According to Golf Digest, Manning plays off a 3.5 handicap, while Brady, a member at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, has an handicap of eight.

Handicaps are numerical measures used among amateur golfers to indicate a players's potential, which allows golfers of different abilities to compete against each other. The lower the handicap, the better the player is.

Here's all you need to know ahead of Sunday.

When is The Match: Champions for Charity?

The charity event will be held on May 24, with play scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET.

Where is The Match: Champions for Charity?

Tiger Woods, Tom Brady, Phil Mickelson and Peyton Manning will compete at the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida. Originally designed by Greg Norman and Pete Dye in 1995, the 18-hole course is routinely used as training ground by PGA Tour players.

TV channel

Turner Sports has exclusive broadcasting rights to the event, which will be simulcast on TNT and TBS.

Live stream

A live stream of The Match: Champions for Charity will be available via TNT and TBS digital platforms and via truTV and HLN on connected TV and devices. Pre-match coverage will be available via the Bleacher Report app.

Format

The event takes place over 18 holes, but it will encompass two different formats. The front nine will be played as a Four-Ball, with each player playing his own ball and the lower score counting towards the team's score. Whichever team records the lower score wins the hole.

Brady and Manning will both get three handicap strokes on the front nine, one on a par-3 hole and one each on a par-4 and on a par-5. The three holes will be determined by a committee before the start of the event.

On the back nine, meanwhile, the event will switch to a Modified Alternate shot. Both players of the same team will hit a tee shot, before selecting the best tee shot of the two and continuing from there until the ball is holed. Again, the team that records the lower score wins the hole.

Unlike on the front nine, Brady and Manning will have no handicap on the back nine.

Should the two teams be tied at the 18th, the match will go to an extra hole with both teams teeing off from approximately 100-125 yards away from the 18th green. The extra hole, if needed, will be played in Modified Alternate format.

Odds

Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning are 1/2 favorites to win the event, with Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson at 33/20.
