WVU Starbucks closed after coronavirus exposure

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Starbucks located at West Virginia University is closed after coronavirus exposure.

The university on Wednesday said anyone who has visited the store at the Market @ UPlace should self-monitor for coronavirus symptoms. The store will remain closed until further notice.

Crews are cleaning the area, and the university is working with the Monongalia County Health Department with investigating the case and contact tracing.

“We know that we’ll identify additional positive cases as we work to perform targeted testing of certain high-risk groups on campus,” said Dr. Carmen Burrell, medical director of Urgent Care and Student Health Services.

“However, the rate and spread of infection can be minimized if individuals will quarantine until test results are received, wear a mask and stay physically distanced as much as possible.”

Students and employees who test positive for the coronavirus are asked to self-isolate for 14 days.
