af2 10th anniversary logo design contest winner announced

December 19, 2008 - arenafootball2 (af2) News Release

CHICAGO - The arenafootball2 (af2) league's 10th anniversary logo design contest winner, based on results taken from an online fan vote on af2.com, is Ed Chung from Brooklyn, New York. Chung's entry gained 38 percent of the total vote to win out over six other finalists.

The winning logo contains the af2 logo on top of a small piece of field but instead of a 10-yard line mark it says 10th anniversary.

"We (af2) received a tremendous amount of responses to our online poll and I believe our fans made the right decision," said af2 President Jerry Kurz. "We're excited about our 10th anniversary season and this special logo contest was a great way to formally kick things off."

Chung submitted the winning logo on behalf of Ditherdog, a multifaceted design company where he serves as the creative director. He founded the company in 1996. As the winner of the contest, Chung will receive two tickets to ArenaCup10 and an officially licensed product with the new 10th anniversary af2 logo displayed on the item.

The league plans to feature the new logo in the coming months on af2.com, all member team sites and on a number of collateral materials leading up to and during the 2009 season. The af2 has also decided to use the logo which earned the second-highest amount of online fan votes in the contest. The second place logo, which includes a big, blue X, will be made into a patch and sewn onto all 2009 team jerseys.
