DHHS SAYS CLOSE TO 10,000 DOSES OF THE VACCINES HAVE ALREADY BEEN DELIVERED AND MORE WILL BE ARRIVING ON A WEEKLY BASIS THE CDC AND FDA HAVE GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT FOR BOTH PFIZER AND MODERNA SHOTS FOR THAT IT GROUP DHHS IS CALLING THEIR CHILD’S PEDIATRICIAN OR PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER TO HAVE THE SHOTS ADMINISTERED IN A MEDICAL SETTING. New Hampshire children as young as six months old can soon get a COVID-19 vaccine.DHHS officials said close to 10,000 doses of the vaccines have already been delivered and more will be arriving to the state on a weekly basis.The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Food and Drug Administration recently gave the green light for both Pfizer and Moderna shots for that age group. They will be given in different ways:Moderna: Children 6 months to 5 years will receive two doses four weeks apart, while severely immunocompromised people would be eligible for a third dosePfizer: Children 6 months to 4 years will receive two doses three weeks apart and then a third dose two months laterThe vaccines are administered in smaller doses for kids. Pfizer’s vaccine is one-tenth the size of the adult doses. Moderna’s vaccine is a quarter of the size of the adult dose.DHHS officials are recommending parents call their child's pediatrician or primary care provider first to have the shots administered in a medical setting.If their child's pediatrician won't be administering the shots, parents can go to vaccines.nh.gov to find out which pharmacies and providers are offering shots to younger children.National chains will also be providing the shots. CVS is providing the vaccines to people 18 months of age or older, while Rite Aid, Walmart and Walgreens are providing the shots to people 3 years or older.
