Area arts organizations and events continue to cancel and postpone events

Area arts organizations and venues continued to cancel or postpone events because of the coronavirus. Here is an update list of Friday’s announcements:

Fiddler's Hearth in South Bend has canceled all music Saturday and at least for the next week, including St. Patrick's Day. Meanwhile, the pub remains open for lunch and dinner daily, although its Sunday brunch buffet will be replaced by plated brunch specials. It is also partnering with GrubHub for those who prefer to eat at home.

Merrimans’ Playhouse in South Bend has canceled Saturday’s concert by The Hickey-Shanafelt 9ollective; merrimansplayhouse.com or merrimuse@sbcglobal.net.

• Plymouth’s Wild Rose Moon has postponed Saturday’s concert by Kennedy’s Kitchen; 574-276-1185 or wildrosemoon.com.

The Acting Ensemble has suspended all events for the time being; actingensemble.com.

The Acorn in Three Oaks has canceled this weekend’s performances, including Friday’s open mic and Saturday’s concert by Switchback; acornlive.org.

The Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph has canceled all events and postponed classed through April 3, but the galleries remain open; krasl.org.

Unity Gardens in South Bend has canceled its Growing Summit classes scheduled for Saturday and Sunday; theunitygardens.org.

The Buchanan Art Center has canceled its exhibit reception scheduled for Sunday. The gallery, however, will remain open, and classes will be held at each instructor’s discretion; buchananartcenter.com.

Bethel University has canceled its April 2 concert by the Jazz Ensemble and Wind Ensemble and its April 3 concert by the Percussion Ensemble & Chamber Orchestra. Today’s Jazz Coffeehouse Concert and April 17’s Spring Choral Concert are both postponed; betheluniversity.edu.

South Bend Civic Theatre has canceled all educational programming, including classes. It had previously canceled Friday “Friday Funny” improv comedy show and postponed Saturday’s screening of the film “Concrete Rose” and March 20’s opening of “Emma.” For more information, visit sbct.org.

The Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce has canceled its April 2 14th annual Chili Cook-off Contest; buchanan.mi.us.

The Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend has canceled all classes and birthday parties for the next two weeks; potawatomizoo.org.

Elkhart Civic Theatre has tentatively rescheduled the following shows: “I’ll Be Back Before Midnight,” from March 27-April 5 to April 10-19; “Right Place, Wrong Time” (sketch comedy), from April 10-11 to April 24-25; and “Drinking Habits,” from May 1-10 to May 15-24.

Premier Arts has announced new audition details for “The Sound of Music”: Auditions will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for ages 5 to 18 and at 7 p.m. Thursday for ages 18 and older and from noon to 1:30 p.m. for ages 5 to 18 and at 1:30 p.m. March 21 for ages 18 and older. The audition location has changed to the Premier Arts Production Facility, 133 State St. Elkhart. Attend only one audition. People may also submit a video audition. Videos should be no longer than 1 minute in length singing a portion of any song from “The Sound of Music.” Video auditions should be emailed to info@premierarts.org with name, age and height included.

Studebaker National Museum and The History Museum remain open to the public, but both museums have suspended public programming, including Oliver Mansion tours, speaker series, guided tours and any specialty tours through March 31. Event rentals and unguided tours may continue at the organizer’s discretion. The March Speaker Series lecture, “Taking Flight: Studebaker Hawks,” has been rescheduled for April 15; studebakermuseum.org and historymuseumsb.org.

The Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City has postponed the start of spring classes from Monday to April 6; lubeznikcenter.org.

Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts in Warsaw has postponed the March 20 concert by Phil Vassar; wagonwheelcenter.org.
