52 new COVID-19 cases confirmed on Cape and Islands

There were 2,501 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts Sunday and 46 new deaths from the virus, the state Department of Public Health reported.

Barnstable County had 43 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases. Dukes County had two new cases and Nantucket had seven, according to the daily update.  

There were no new deaths related to the virus reported on the Cape and Islands Sunday.

The Cape has had a total of 3,020 confirmed cases of the disease caused by the new coronavirus since pandemic reporting began, and 192 probable or confirmed deaths.

Dukes County has had 270 confirmed cases to date and Nantucket has had 300 as of Sunday, according to Sunday's report. There have been two confirmed or probable deaths related to COVID-19 on Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.

There were 1,081 patients hospitalized in the state with confirmed COVID-19 Sunday. Of those, 238 patients were in the intensive care unit and 110 are intubated. 

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases stands at 217,163, with 10,722 confirmed or probable related deaths.
