ELYRIA, Ohio — A 16-year-old Cleveland male was hospitalized Tuesday night after he was wounded in a drive-by shooting, police say.
The teen tells police he is unsure where he was, possibly Middle Avenue, while walking with a friend just after 10 p.m. Tuesday. He says a dark-colored sedan with heavily tinted windows and a blue pickup truck drove past.
Moments later gunshots erupted from at least one of the vehicles, the teen tells police. He says he immediately felt a pain in his left shoulder as he and his friend ran from the area, becoming separated.
Once he was sure the vehicles were gone, he sat down on a curb and noticed he was bleeding. A female approached and asked if he had been shot. She then drove the teen to University Hospital Elyria Campus. The victim was transferred to University Hospitals in Cleveland for a non-life-threatening wound, police say.
The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information can contact police at 440-323-3302.
