WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- Portions of Ann Arbor and Pittsfield Township will have controlled power outages to update the electrical system this week, a DTE Energy official said.

Outages lasting between 30 to 45 minutes will begin in certain areas of Ann Arbor at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30. Similar outages are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, for spots in Pittsfield Township.

Customers in the areas will receive a notification through email or phone from DTE before the outage begins, if they have not already, Je’well Pearson, DTE spokeswoman, said. Residents should unplug electronics to prevent damage while power is out.

About 500 customers in Ann Arbor and 2,100 customers in Pittsfield Township will be affected, Pearson said. The outage in Ann Arbor will be north of the Huron River near Plymouth Road. The outage in Pittsfield Township will be south of Interstate 94 near Ellsworth and Lohr roads.

A weather delay could reschedule Thursday’s repairs in Ann Arbor to 9:30 a.m. Friday, a Facebook post from Pittsfield Charter Township said.

DTE is inspecting utility poles, replacing older cables and replacing wooden crossarms attached to the poles with fiberglass ones, Pearson said.
