Sun Bather Recovering After Police Cruiser Runs Over Him

A 66-year-old Michigan man is recovering from serious injuries after being accidentally run over by an Indian Shores Police cruiser.

INDIAN SHORES, FL —A 66-year-old Michigan man is recovering from serious injuries after being accidentally run over by an Indian Shores Police cruiser while sun bathing on the beach Friday.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, at 5:53 p.m. William Koziarz of Michigan was laying on the beach south of the 193rd Avenue Beach Access in Indian Shores when 27-year-old Officer Natasha Hindman, who had just begun her beach patrol assignment in a fully marked Ford Explorer police cruiser, was driving along the beach at a low speed and drove over Koziarz's hips with the left tires of her cruiser.

Hindman stopped and immediately rendered aid until paramedics arrived. Koziarz was transported to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg.

The sheriff's office said Koziarz's injuries are not life-threatening but are serious.
