Police responded to Harriman State Park in Suffern on Jan. 12, 2020, when a body was found in the woods.

SUFFERN - A Suffern man died after his ATV flipped and he was thrown from the vehicle in Harriman State Park on Sunday, state police said.

Andrew Columbia, 58, was riding an ATV up a steep hill near Regis Court when it flipped, Trooper Steven Nevel said. Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene.

Columbia's body was found around noon by a man who was riding an ATV with his children about a mile into the woods at the park.

It was not immediately clear how long Columbia's body had been there. The only access point into the woods for first responders was behind 8 Regis Court in Montebello.

It took about three and a half hours to conduct an investigation and get Columbia's body out.
