In a city known for its skilful denim and love of sportswear, Seoul Fashion Week presented some surprisingly feminine touches and a welcome return to tailoring. Design duo colourists SJYP showed a collection full of optimism with day separates in bold brights for a laidback-cool look. Toucan's printed patchwork dresses, YCH's pretty prairie girls and LIE's soft sorbet colours all ticked the box for summer event dressing next season. Clever re-interpretations to traditional workwear came from Bourie, in pinafores, and softer versions of suiting. Discover our highlights from the city to watch, here.

Designer Lee Chung Chung drew inspiration from American female aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart this season. The runway had a gorgeously feminine vibe from the very beginning. Silky jackets, trench coats, jumpers and shirts delivered an elegant mood, while the mix between pastel colours such as sky blue, baby pink and light yellow, and ruffle, frill, off-shoulder and balloon details helped boost the unapologetically girlie style identity.

These pretty prairie dresses drew inspiration from Anne of Green Gables. Designer Yoon Choon-ho of YCH presented a romantically rustic, vintag-inspired collection for the new season. The puff-sleeved knits, jackets and coats evoked the image of Anne (and prints symbolised her hair in braids) while high denim boots grounded it in the now. Ideal for summer event dressing.

Design duo Yoni P and Steve J of SJYP presented a juicy array of colours that included green, blue, violet and vivid acid shades inspired by 70s Memphis Design. Their brand of laidback cool offered a savvy mix and match of diverse textiles, including PVC, cotton, lace and knit. In essence, the practical, with just a little bit of crazy. This is an everyday wardrobe with a wonderfully creative spin.
