On college football’s Selection Sunday, Utah found out its bowl and opponent. The Utes will be taking on Texas in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on New Year’s Eve. It’s only the second time the two schools have met on the gridiron — and the first time since 1982.

Here’s what Texas fans are saying about the bowl and the Utes ahead of the matchup.

From Burnt Orange Nation, Texas’ SB Nation blog:

Invite every recruit in Texas, make it the recruiting bowl! Good opponent, was hoping for the Irish!

Not sure I want recruits to see what the Utah defense will do to the Texas offense

Yeah, was hoping for a weaker opponent. We really need to win the bowl, make the season look much better to recruits.

Not to say Utah is not a good team but the best teams they beat were 7-5 in a conference that really is not strong this year. At the end of the day they played 2 teams that were ranked at the end of the season, #6 and #22, and they lost both of those games.

Saw the touted defense got gashed by Oregon. Offense is pretty vanilla too. I can see why they fell so hard.

Beating Utah will be tough but huge in terms of recruiting and positive ending to an unexpected down year.

If Utah shows up ready to play, this one will be painful to watch
