Lewis County man accused of beating someone with baseball bat

CASTORLAND, N.Y. – A 50-year-old man who allegedly beat another man with a baseball bat during a fight was arrested in Castorland Tuesday.

Scott A. Danforth is accused of assaulting a 31-year-old man with the bat during a fight in Castorland back on May 30. The victim had several fractured bones and an eye injury after the assault.

Danforth is charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. He was arraigned and remanded to the Lewis County Correctional Facility without bai after his arrest.

Danforth also faced assault and burglary charges in 2019 following an incident in Croghan. At the time, police said he broke into a former significant other's home, and assaulted and strangled another person inside the house.
