Alexandria – Overwood and the Autism Society of Northern Virginia are partnering to make a lasting impact on the city’s autism community through their ‘Ales for Autism’ fundraising event on April 18th in honor of Autism Awareness Month. This event is inspired by Autism Charlotte, who created a tradition by which Local Friends help Local Families dealing with the challenges of autism through this positive, energetic fundraising event. Autism Charlotte is now working with other communities, including Northern Virginia, to make this opportunity available outside of Charlotte. The ticketed event will take place at The Overwood in Old Town Alexandria located at 220 North Lee Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday April 18th.

“With one in 68 children on the autism spectrum today, it’s important to not only raise awareness of the issue, but to also highlight the support available to help individuals with autism,” said Jenna Hamilton, Ales for Autism’s Host. “We are excited to partner with Overwood and we’re excited to hopefully make an impact in Virginia’s autism community.”

The event ticket is $20 and includes one free beer. A limited number of commemorative Ales for Autism glasses will be given on a first come basis.
