TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police tweeted early Saturday morning that Taos police were involved in an officer-involved shooting in the area of Cruz Alta Road. Officials say no officers were injured.

They say around 3 a.m., state police tried to pull over a car on State Road 68. The car did not stop and a pursuit started. Shortly after, the car crashed on Fernandez Road and they say 18-year-old Antonio Olivares exchanged gunfire with a Taos police officer.

Olivares was hit but got away on foot. He was later found, taken into custody, and taken to Albuquerque for treatment and then released.
