COVID-19 in Lee County: May 2 confirmed positive cases

Florida confirmed Lee County's first three cases of the novel coronavirus on March 7. Since then, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Lee has increased to 1,085 with a total of 42 deaths, according to Saturday's report from the Florida Department of Health. 

Lee County became the seventh Florida county to surpass 1,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases Wednesday. Lee's progression to 1,000 cases, in increments of 100, was as follows:

  • 100 cases: March 28 (119)
  • 200 cases: March 31 (206)
  • 300 cases: April 3 (304)
  • 400 cases: April 6 (400)
  • 500 cases: April 9 (522)
  • 600 cases: April 12 (617)
  • 700 cases: April 17 (721)
  • 800 cases: April 22 (821)
  • 900 cases: April 24 (940)
  • 1000 cases: April 29 (1,003)

After reporting Lee County had 43 COVID-19 related deaths on Thursday, the state revised that total to 42 Friday. Data reported by the Florida Department of Health is provisional and subject to change.

A total of 249 people in Lee County have been hospitalized for COVID-19, according to the report, but that number does not reflect the people currently in the hospital as some have been released.

The Florida Department of Health is not currently reporting how many people have recovered from COVID-19.
