Hazen A. Lewis, age 94, and Mary Jane Lewis, age 91, of Girard passed away on December 30, 2020 and July 21, 2021, respectively, at Elmwood Gardens.

Hazen was born in Fairview on November 17, 1926 a son of the late Clyde and Mabel Henry Lewis.

He was a graduate of Fairview High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at Penn Brass and Copper for over 35 years. Hazen was a kind, gentle man that loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors, farming, gardening, camping, and fishing, playing cards with friends and family, and sharing the spirit of a drink.

Mary Jane was born near Mahaffey Pennsylvania on January 15, 1930, daughter of the late Chester and Pearl Dehaven Rex.

She was a graduate of Millcreek High School and studied music at the Conservatory of Music. She was an avid pianist and organist serving our Lord as a musician at many Erie area churches throughout her lifetime. Mary Jane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed camping with family and friends. She loved live theater and concerts and traveled many times to attend and visit organist's conventions and churches. She retired from the United States Post office.

They were members of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cranesville, PA and enjoyed their church family. They were also members of Koinonia of Erie County. After retiring, Hazen and Mary Jane traveled throughout the United States to visit family and friends.

In addition to their parents, they are preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Johnson-Fagley and several siblings.

Survivors include two sons, John (Sibyll) Rex of Arizona, Richard (Norma Jean) Lewis of Girard, 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Hazen and Mary Jane at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St., Girard, on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. followed by inurnment at Sterrittania Cemetery
