An initiative in Ascot which hopes to raise awareness of the benefits of insects as their numbers decline will launch tomorrow (Wednesday).
Insect Armageddon has been organised by ASCENT (Ascot Community Network) with support from Wildlife in Ascot.
ASCENT’s Lesley Hunter said: “The project aims to raise local awareness of the benefits of insects and the cause for concern at their declining numbers.
“We want to learn about what can be done in our area to improve the situation.
“We will work with local landowners to understand how habitats such as grassland and woodland are managed and what is being, and could be, done.”
The group also wants to engage with school students and get a group of volunteers to promote the project.
The initiative’s public launch will be held tomorrow at Ascot Heath Junior School in Rhododendron Walk, from 7pm.
