Emergency Departments at Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and Al Wakrah Hospital received a total of 1,066 cases on the second day of Eid Al Adha.
However, none of the cases were critical and the numbers road accident cases have reduced compared to previous years, said an official.
Most of the cases were related to gastrointestinal tract as a result of change in food habits, during Eid celebrations, said Dr. Galal Saleh Al Essai, Vice Chairman for Corporate Affairs, Department of Emergency Medicine, HMC.
“Since the COVID-19 restrictions are still implemented and due to the weather conditions, we assume people keep indoors and safe. Therefore the number of road accidents reported are less than previous years. Also all medical and surgical cases reported were in stable condition,” he told The Peninsula.
Of the cases, HGH attended to 507 males and 199 females. Al Wakrah ED received a total of 360 cases including 237 males and 123 females. In both hospitals 24 people were admitted due to medical and surgical conditions.
While, the Ambulance Service has responded to 681 cases and among those 137 were due to road traffic accidents, said Ali Darwish, Assistant Executive Director of the Ambulance Service.
“Among the cases, 116 were minor and treated on site, 21 of them were treated and transferred to hospitals. However all patients were in stable condition,” he said, adding that three patients were lifted to hospitals by life-light ambulance.
