Benson leads Lake County to 12-6 win over South Bend Cubs

Will Benson hit four home runs and drove in eight runs, as the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Indians) defeated the South Bend Cubs 12-6 in Class A minor league baseball on Thursday in Eastlake, Ohio.

The 6-5, 225-pound Benson is hitting .341 with six homers.

Hosea Nelson homered and singled, driving in two.

Lake County right-hander Shane McCarthy (2-1) picked up the win after allowing one run on three hits over six innings. South Bend starter Eury Ramos (0-2) took the loss after giving up seven runs and seven hits over 2 2/3 innings.

For the Cubs, Christopher Morel homered and doubled, driving in a pair. Jonathan Sierra also had two hits, including a double.
