'I had cut away the heaviness': Carrie Bickmore shares the emotional reason she decided to chop her long blonde locks into a short bob

Last month Carrie Bickmore debuted a new short haircut, to celebrate the easing of the Victorian capital's strict lockdown.

And on Saturday, The Project host shared the very relatable reason that she decided to chop her hair. 

In a column for Stellar Magazine, the 39-year-old explained that cutting her hair felt like she was cutting away the 'heaviness of 2020'.

'Just the simple act of cutting it felt liberating. Like a physical and mental weight off my shoulders. Like I had cut away the heaviness of 2020,' she wrote.    

The TV personality added that after weeks of the Victorian lockdown, simply going to the hairdressers was a 'win' no matter what her hair looked like.  

'Just the experience of sitting in the hairdresser's, chatting with the stylist and having my head massaged felt like a win, regardless of the end result,' she said.

And while the cut was a big change for the mum-of-two, Carrie admitted that she doesn't have any 'buyers remorse'. 

'[It's] the sort of chop you instantly regret and vow to start growing again straight away. Only this time I didn't have any buyer's remorse,' she added. 

Carrie revealed her dramatic new look in a TikTok video last month that featured, her twirling her long blonde tousles around her finger as the audio said: 'Girl, don't do it, it's not worth it.'

She then mimed: 'I'm not gonna do it girl, I was just thinking about it, I'm not gonna do it.'

The clip then cut to Carrie excitedly showing off her edgy shoulder length cut.

She mimed: 'I did it,' as she played with her wavy tresses.

The mother-of three wrote in the caption: 'Goodbye Lockdown. Goodbye Locks.'
