1. Eric Mack, Jr., 27, of Montgomery, has been arrested and charged for a homicide early on Tuesday. The shooting occurred just after 4 a.m. in the area of Taft Street and Malvern Street. Terrell Hardy was found shot and pronounced dead at the scene. (Alabama News Network)
2. Montgomery's Jeff Davis Avenue was renamed in honor of civil rights lawyer Fred D. Gray, who grew up on this street during the Jim Crow era and represented clients including Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. This change was initially proposed in December by Mayor Steven Reed, who says that Gray is one of the "heroes who exemplify the best in our city." (AL.com)
