Coronavirus In Ohio: New Cases Down, Hospitalizations Up

While newly confirmed cases of the virus dipped slightly, hospitalizations related to COVID-19 were up Thursday in Ohio.

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio saw a slight dip in newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

The Ohio Department of Health released its latest round of daily data, noting that 1,178 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours. That's down versus Wednesday and down versus the three-week average for new cases per day.

Deaths caused by COVID-19 were also down slightly on Thursday. Twenty-one Ohioans died from complications caused by the virus in the past 24 hours.

Hospitalizations and intensive care admissions related to the virus continue to surge. More than 120 Ohioans entered hospitals for COVID-19 care in the past 24 hours. Twenty-two Ohioans entered intensive care units because of the virus.
