Madison County School officials say a bus driver in the system has tested positive for COVID-19.
The driver’s name and route were not released. However, system spokesman Tim Hall said parents of students on the bus route were notified of the test results. The system learned of the test results on Saturday, he said.
“Anytime we have a similar situation, be it a teacher, lunchroom worker, we notify the parents,” Hall said. “We have protocols in place for this.”
Drivers and students are required to wear masks on the school bus, according to system policy. Hall said some drivers have chosen to wear masks and face shields. Students also have assigned seating.
