Garber takes rubber match from Glenn
Essexville Garber and John Glenn stood on equal terms, each owning one win against the other this season heading into Round 3.
But Garber had no interest in calling it even.
The Dukes jumped out to a three-goal first-half lead then secured a 4-1 victory over Glenn in their Tri-Valley Conference clash.
Glenn defeated Garber 1-0 in the Bay County Championship before Garber returned the favor with a 3-2 win in their first league meeting.
Garber got two goals and an assist from Nick Stenman while Jack Day and Trey Tulin each added one goal. Cam Rowley notched nine saves in goal for the Dukes. Glenn scored its lone goal on a second-half penalty kick.
Garber returns to action on Thursday at Standish-Sterling.
Central can’t keep pace with Powers
Bay City Central put up a fight, but it couldn’t hold off Flint Powers forever.
After dueling to a 0-0 standoff through the first 21 minutes, the Wolves saw the game turn as Powers rolled to a 9-1 victory.
“It was a hard-fought loss in the rain,” Central coach Dave Pace said. “The Central midfield and defense – along with goalie Evan Linkowski – held Flint back (in the early going).”
Powers broke through for three first-half goals then tallied six more after halftime. Central (3-8-2) got its goal from Aidan Schad on an assist from Jake Rodabaugh. Jacob Bladecki and Jake Brisbois also had shots on goal for the Wolves.

Victory is as easy as 1-2-3 for Glenn
It was a night of complete success for John Glenn.
The Bobcats won the freshman and JV matchups with Carrollton then completed the sweep with a perfect 3-0 varsity victory, 25-18, 25-8, 25-19.
“We had a lot of energy and the girls were all moving well together,” Glenn coach Madison Seegraves said. “They had each other’s backs and were prepared for almost anything that was coming their way.”
Glenn got nine kills from Claire Stopyak, eight from Kailey Christensen and seven from Alysse Wallaker. Lillian Kaczynski notched 27 assists and joined Makenna Olson with three aces while Reagan Gary tallied four kills and four blocks.
