JUPITER — A Port St. Lucie man died Saturday in a car crash on Interstate 95 near Jupiter, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 4 p.m., the 85-year-old man was driving a pickup truck south on I-95 near Donald Ross Road when he apparently lost control of the vehicle on a wet stretch of road, FHP said. The truck veered off the side of the road, hit the inside guardrail and continued back onto the highway, authorities said.

A tractor-trailer then struck the pickup, sending it toward the outside guardrail, according to FHP. After hitting the second guardrail, the truck continued back onto I-95, where FHP said it hit the right side of a pickup truck and its camper and eventually came to rest.

Florida Highway Patrol did not release the 85-year-old man's identity by Saturday night, pending next-of-kin notification. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Occupants of the tractor-trailer and the second pickup truck did not suffer any injuries, authorities said.
