STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory for Staten Island Wednesday night.
The advisory spans from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the National Weather Service said, and warns of up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the shoreline.
Some roads and low lying properties will experience minor flooding as a result of the conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
Motorists are warned not to attempt to drive through flooded roads, and residents are urged to take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
Rain is also expected after 4 p.m. and leading into the evening, weather.gov said, with a 60% chance of precipitation Wednesday night.
