INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead after a late evening shooting Sunday on the city’s west side.
Indianapolis Metro Police were called to the 5600 block of W. 38th St. around 10 p.m.
When they arrived on scene, police found the body of a man later identified as 52-year-old Eugenio Roman on the ground in a strip mall.
Roman was pronounced deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators are working to determine if the shooting was the result of a possible robbery or robbery attempt. It’s also unclear if any of the businesses in the strip mall were involved in the incident.
The shooting hit close to home for one Indianapolis mother.
“It tore me apart this morning to be honest. It really hurt my heart to know that someone else’s family member lost a loved in the same exact area where I lost my baby,” said Christa Frazier.
Nearly 4 years ago Frazier’s son and a second teenager were shot to death in the same parking lot.
18-year-old Dijon Anderson and 17-year-old Angel Alfaro were killed in May 2017.
Both victims were Warren Central students.
Their deaths remain unsolved.
Anderson’s mother wishes people would put more value on human life.
“We have to start valuing life. Life is precious. It’s not fair to end someone’s life over something so simple and so stupid. It doesn’t make sense to me,” said Frazier.
