PEACH ORCHARD, AR (KAIT) - A Clay County farm worker had to be taken to the emergency room Sunday after his hand got caught in a piece of farm machinery.

Sheriff Terry Miller said Paul Valdez was loading grain Sunday at a farm near Peach Orchard when his hand got caught in a short power take-off shaft.

Valdez managed to pull free, Miller said, and was taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital with a possible broken arm.

The sheriff said Valdez was alert and talking when he left the scene.
