Death in Paradise viewers were left baffled last night after noticing that bosses had changed the show’s original theme tune.

Ralf Little finally returned to our screens in series 10 as highly-strung detective Neville Parker.

The first episode of the new series saw Neville solve the murder of 25-year-old news reporter Melanie Sharpe (Eleanor Fanyink).

The instalment also saw the return of much-loved character Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert).

Despite viewers praising the show for ‘saving lockdown’ others couldn’t get over the fact the theme tune had changed.

The original theme music is an instrumental version of a Jamaican song from the 1960s called You’re Wondering Now.

However, the new version is basically based on the same song, it is just a little bit slower than the original.

Taking to Twitter one viewer said: ‘What HAVE you done to the theme music? OK it’s the same tune, but get the old band back, please.’

While another commented: ‘How are me & my other half supposed to do our weekly Caribbean dance when the theme tune no longer sounds Caribbean??!!’

One added: ‘Why did the theme tune change?’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to the BBC for comment.

Death in Paradise airs on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
