Great American Teach Off

May 15, 2013

GREAT AMERICAN TEACH OFF: Nicely done: Good magazine and the University of Phoenix sponsor a competition called "The Great American Teach Off," with two prizes each worth $10K each. This year's winners were Madeleine Rogin, a Kindergarten teacher at Prospect Sierra School in El Cerrito, Calif., and Everett Jeremy Rodriguez, a music teacher at Liberty High School in Glen Daniel, WV. (Click on their names to see the submissions that they made to the contest). There were 10 finalists and each week for five weeks votes were tallied. Both the winners offered some heartfelt observations about what the prizes mean:

Rogin said: "It's about my school and about teaching kids to be positive, peaceful change makers."
Rodriguez noted: "I wish I could say this is about me but it's more about this community that we live in."

Yah! What they said!
