Lakefront Brewery Is a Beer Hall By Day, Comedy Club By Night

Check out Keg Stand Up this weekend at Lakefront Brewery.

One Sunday night each month, Lakefront Brewery transforms from a bustling beer hall into an intimate comedy club for Keg Stand Up in collaboration with Milwaukee Comedy.

It’s a cozy atmosphere with tables packed close to the small, spotlit stage.

A host warms up the audience before the comedians try out their sets. The jokes get funnier with each new comedian and, of course, Lakefront’s beer helps.

Sit in the front row if you’re up for participating in some crowd work. The night we checked it out, the targets were interrogated about their love lives, careers and relationships with their pets. Some comedians skipped the audience intrusions, opting instead to share stories from their personal lives to give the crowd a laugh.

“Keg Stand Up is one of my favorite comedy shows in town,” Matt Kemple, creative director and founder of Milwaukee Comedy, says. “It’s a fun night with professional comics and great beer and lots of laughs.”

The lineup includes mostly Milwaukee comedians, plus the occasional Chicago jokester, and changes month to month. The food and drink are up to Lakefront’s regular high standards, and the waitstaff are there to make sure your glass is never empty.

This month’s show is May 22, from 6-7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.
