Hunterdon Harvest Fest set for Oct. 2

On Oct. 2, the Hunterdon Harvest Fest on Stangl Road will celebrate the best of fall in Hunterdon County, with local food and drinks, local bands and DJ’s and family activities from noon to 8 p.m.Flemington Community Partnership

On Oct. 2, the best of fall in Hunterdon County will be celebrated at the Flemington Community Partnership’s inaugural Hunterdon Harvest Fest on Stangl Road. The event, which will run from noon to 8 p.m., will feature local food and drinks, local bands and DJs as well as family activities.

The event will feature farm-to-table cuisine, plus a beer garden featuring five Hunterdon County craft breweries. The event is a fundraiser for the Flemington Fire Department, and the proceeds from beer sales will be donated to the volunteer organization. “The Flemington Volunteer Fire Department is excited to participate in this exciting event and we are grateful to our local breweries for coming out to support our local fire department through this event,” said Peter Nemec, chief, Flemington Volunteer Fire Department.

Participating breweries include:

  • Lone Eagle Brewing
  • Highrail Brewing
  • Opportunity Brewing Company
  • Conclave Brewing
  • Sunken Silo Brew Works.

Live music, artisan vendors, farmers and fresh food will be set up on Stangl Road near Lone Eagle (Stangl Road will be partially closed). For those looking for some competitive fun, Axeiom ax throwing, new to Flemington, is located behind 34 Stangl Road (axeiom.com).

There will be more than 50 participating vendors and businesses, highlights include:

  • 55 Main - Hearty, homemade fall favorites from Chef Jonas
  • Doggie Style - gourmet hot dogs
  • Humdoo Ice Cream -- Pumpkin or Vanilla ice cream with cream cheese glaze drizzle and cinnamon sugar.
  • The Salad Basket - fresh salads and “Stick It” local cheese, dried sausage, veggies on a stick
  • Sweet Valley Farm - roasted corn and baked potatoes
  • Bread & Culture- artisan bread and croissants
  • Jaklama’s Farm - fresh baked pies
  • Asado Tacos - nachos and hand pies
  • Garden State Salad - fresh salads and homemade breads
  • Bonacorsi Family Farm - apples
  • Green House- specialty plants and flower arrangements
  • Allerton Creek Farm- hand-made whiskey barrel cutting boards cap openers
  • Deer Run Hay Farm- mini hay bales and fall decor
  • Love Flemington - new Flemington t-shirts and tank tops

The musical band “The First Class Creeps” will be headlining the event with a 6 p.m. performance. The band is comprised of Stangl Road artists Kev Von Holt (Kev Von Holt Gallery) on lead vocals/guitar and Jared Oberman (Factory Fuel owner) on bass and vocals, along with Avi Kazam on drums, and Dave Kopp on lead guitar. Local Lambertville band, Strange Brew Crew will also entertain the crowd during the day and Chef Andrew Mercado of Asado Taco will take the stage as a guest DJ.

“Flemington is the heart of Hunterdon County, we are 100% Jersey Country with a vibrant artisan district and historic main street and we are surrounded by 1,600 farms, outstanding breweries, and wineries and something for everyone,” said Robin Lapidus, executive director at the Flemington Community Partnership.

The Hunterdon Harvest Fest, to be held near 44 Stangl Road. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held on Oct. 3. The event will be presented by the Flemington Community Partnership, and sponsored by ShopRite of Hunterdon County.

Guests are encouraged to bring chairs. Adults 21+ must bring ID to purchase alcohol. Free parking is available at Liberty Village, enter the parking lot from Route 12. Stangl Road will be closed near Lone Eagle Brewing. More information, go to loveflemington.com.
