COVID-19 in MN: Sherburne County resident is among 32 new deaths

Another 32 Minnesotans died from COVID-19 and 1,196 tested positive for the disease, according to Sunday's report from the Minnesota Department of Health. Fifty-nine of those new cases and one death were in the tri-county area,

In Stearns, Benton and Sherburne counties, cases recorded in Sunday's report were generally in line with trends from recent days. Stearns County's cumulative caseload rose by 40 patients, to 18,091 to date; Sherburne's by 14 patients to 8,296 since March; and Benton cases rose by 5 to 4,236. 

The death toll held steady at 190 in Stearns County and 88 in Benton County. A Sherburne County resident between 80 and 84 years old was the tri-county area's only new victim in Sunday's report.

Since the pandemic was detected in Minnesota on March 7, 11.2% of Stearns County's 161,075 residents, 8.5% of Sherburne County's 97,238 residents and 10.4% of Benton County's 40,889 residents have tested positive. 

The number of Minnesotans who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus since it arrived in the state in March reached 459,989 cases in Sunday's report, and 6,095 people have died, according to MDH. Stearns, Benton and Sherburne county residents account for 347 of those deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, 23,884 people have required hospitalization in the state, with 4,965 admitted to intensive care units.

According to MDH, 437,827 coronavirus patients no longer need isolation.
