AUHF, NMRC plan talks on housing solutions

The African Union for Housing Finance, in partnership with the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company, has concluded plans to host its 32nd conference and annual general meeting on the state of the housing sector and proffer solutions for its growth.

The event, which will be held in Abuja from September 14 to 16, 2016, is also expected to open a national discourse as Nigeria plays hosts to a gathering of experts and practitioners of housing and housing finance from different parts of the world.

“The NMRC is working with other local partners such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, the Federal Ministry of Finance, Mortgage Banking Association of Nigeria and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority to ensure a very successful outing for the Nigerian housing sector at the conference,” the organisers said in a statement.

It added that the Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Mr. BabatundeFashola, would deliver the keynote address on the first day of the conference, while the Minister of Finance, Mrs. KemiAdeosun, would head the plenary on the second day.

The statement read in part, “Other expected speakers include housing finance experts from Ethiopia, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania, and from others like India, China and Brazil. These will be complemented by institutional level representatives of the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the China-Africa Development Fund, and UN-Habitat.
