WEST PALM BEACH — A 48-year-old pedestrian died Thursday evening in a traffic crash along Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach police said Friday.

Anthony Creech died when the trailer on a landscaping truck hit him and knocked him down west of the intersection of Okeechobee and Spencer Drive, just east of Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard.

The crash occurred at about 6 p.m. Thursday as Creech was crossing Okeechobee from north to south, West Palm Beach police said.

He made it past two lanes before the trailer struck him. The landscaping truck was traveling west on Okeechobee. Traffic signals were green for eastbound and westbound traffic, police said.

Authorities identified the truck's driver as Robbins Morales Vasquez, 31, also of West Palm Beach.

Investigators are trying to determine whether Creech was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They said they have determined neither substance was a factor with Morales Vasquez.

No charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon.
