The number of coronavirus cases in Michigan has reached 57,731, with 5,553 reported deaths.

On Tuesday, the Michigan Department of Health and Human services reported 199 new cases and 37 deaths.

Of the 37 deaths, 11 were not from the last 24 hours, but from a periodic review of previous vital records.

Despite the increase of cases, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Monday the rest of the state will join northern Michigan in moving into Phase 4 of reopening the economy. This includes bars and restaurants, to reopen June 8 at 50% capacity. The governor also announced the stay at home order, which has been in place since March, has been lifted.
