The death of Tarpley, 50, was a shocker to Aguirre and the rest of the NBA old heads who played with and against him. Tarpley, from Detroit Cooley and the University of Michigan, battled drug and alcohol abuse that led to a lifetime ban from the NBA in 1995. He died Friday in Arlington, Texas; the cause of death has not been released. “He was a beautiful person with a really big heart,” Aguirre said Saturday during a telephone interview from Chicago.

Anthony Davis after Game 2: We've had stretches where we don't know what we're doing on both ends of the floor

So as Davis looks ahead to Game 3 on Thursday in L.A., he knows that the team needs to lean on the success they’ve had within the first two games. With that being said though, he admitted that there are points in the game where the team doesn’t know what they’re doing. “Just got to focus on Game 3. We’ve shown that we’re more than capable. We’ve also had stretches where we don’t know what we’re doing on both ends of the floor. And those are the ones that cost us. We got two days to get it right and be ready to win Game 3 on Thursday.”

Darvin Ham on Anthony Davis comments: 'I agree to disagree on that one'

ClutchPoints: “The frustration sets in a little bit… Being frustrated, you know it’s an emotional game the way it ended… But I agree to disagree on that one.” Lakers coach Darvin Ham on Anthony Davis’ comments after Game 2 against the Nuggets 🗣️ (via @michaelcorvo_) pic.twitter.com/l0C1Z4oi7N

“It’s different,” Siakam said. “I’m usually not a talkative person. And it’s something that in the past, in a different situation, it was always a hope that (I) talked a little bit more but I’m coming in, putting in the work every single day and leading by example. But I was challenged with this group to talk. It feels better when it feels like your voice is received well — once you talk, the guys are looking, hearing and feeling like they want to get whatever information you have. It’s been good, I enjoy it. It’s another part of my growth as a player.”
“His experience in the playoffs is so valuable,” Carlisle said. “He’s not a guy that’s going to get rattled by anything. Never has once, since January, since we got him. He’s a guy people confide in, look up to. He’s an important part of what we’re doing.” Leadership takes different forms and for Siakam, the journey to find his voice is as long as his winding path through the NBA.

The Nuggets adjusted by having Aaron Gordon guard Davis and leaving Jokic as more of a secondary roamer near the paint. Davis believes the adjustment by the Nuggets isn’t what stopped L.A. from a successful second half of Monday night, though. “We got great looks, we missed. Still tried to do what we were doing before with the ball screens, putting Jokic in ball screens and it was working for us. We didn’t score. In the second half, we only scored 40 points.”
