If like us you’re partial to something a little bit chilling, then you’re going to love the trailer for My Friend Dahmer.

In case you’re not sure what we’re on about, My Friend Dahmer is an upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name, which is by a real life acquaintance of infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, John “Derf” Backderf. The movie and book don’t focus too much on the 17 chilling murders that Dahmer committed, but rather on his years as an outsider during high school and the build up to the first murder in 1978.

The movie was announced last year, and stars Disney Channel alum Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally) as the teenager iteration of the serial killer.

Now, at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, the trailer for My Friend Dahmer has been released.

The clips showcases Lynch’s creepy performance as the notorious killer as we see a teen Dahmer obsess over a neighbourhood jogger, collect road kill and bones, and act out in high school.

We also see how he deals with his emotionally unstable mother, played by Anne Heche, and how his father, played by Dallas Roberts, wants more for his son.

Most chillingly, however, is what Lynch says in the trailer while visiting the doctor.

“You seem healthy to me,” the doctor says, to which the teenage Dahmer replies: “What about what’s on a patient’s mind?”

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about why he decided to take on the challenging role, Ross Lynch said that he wanted to showcase a different side to himself.

“I had done a lot of work with Disney, and sort of a younger demographic, and I was excited to do something that maybe people didn’t expect from me,” he said. “And I had a really good time doing it.”

My Friend Dahmer is expected for release later this year.
