Walton firefighter injured, mobile home destroyed in Mossy Head blaze

MOSSY HEAD — Firefighters responded to a fully engulfed mobile home fire Saturday morning.

At 9:47 a.m. Walton County Fire Rescue, DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home on West Violet Lane following a 911 call, according to a press release from Walton County Fire Rescue.

The caller stated he could see heavy smoke and flames coming from the mobile home.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire within a little more than 30 minutes, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby homes, the release said.

At 9:47 a.m. Saturday, Walton County Fire Rescue, DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home on West Violet Lane following a 911 call, according to a press release from Walton County Fire Rescue.

The residents of the home were able to safely evacuate, but a Walton County Fire Rescue firefighter was injured and transported to a hospital with minor injuries, the release said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents.
