BALTIMORE — RHP Pat Hentgen allowed two hits in seven innings to win for the first time in two years and Baltimore snapped a six-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Tampa Bay. The Devil Rays did not record an assist in the game, the eighth time in major league history that happened in a nine-inning game. Tampa Bay also did it May 1, 2002.

ORIOLES UPDATE: Hentgen (1-0) missed most of the 2001 and 2002 seasons after ligament replacement surgery in his elbow. . . . Mike Hargrove resumed managerial duties following the death of his mother May 12.

DEVIL RAYS UPDATE: Tampa Bay can win three straight road series for the first time by beating the Orioles today. . . . RHP Jeremi Gonzalez, brought up from Class AAA Durham earlier in the day, allowed two runs and struck out nine in seven innings in his first major-league start since 1998. . . . SS Felix Escalona was designated for assignment.
