SolePomodoro Trattoria Pizzeria

Sipping a glass of wine while enjoying great pasta on the waterfront, what could be better? At SolePomodoro Trattoria Pizzeria, their pasta dough is freshly made daily which gives their Tagliolini all’aragosta, long pasta with Canadian lobster and cherry tomatoes, ($39) a satisfying al dente bite. Their Pizzas ($26.50) are made fresh and are cooked in minutes, thanks to a scorching hot wood-fired oven handcrafted in Italy.

The high heat seals in the fresh flavours of the ingredients while imparting a delicate, smoky aroma and flavour. If you have not tried pizzas cooked this way, you are definitely missing out!

Round off meal on a sweet note with the Profiteroles ($16). We had ours filled with a pistachio chantilly cream, topped with a warm chocolate sauce, whipped cream and almond crumble. These cloud-like pastries are so delicious that your plate will be clean in no time!

Excited? Well hurry on down, as diners who mention “Christmas at Quayside Isle” when ordering get 10% off* the total food bill from now till 31 Dec 2019!

Gin Khao Bistro

DSCF2573-7

Ever heard of Watermelon Fried Rice? Well me neither, until I got to Gin Khao Bistro. This modern Thai eatery is known for being the first to bring this Thai street food to Singapore, along with many other yummy Thai dishes.

While the combination of fruit and fried rice ($25.80 for 2 pax) initially sounded strange, we were pleasantly surprised by how the sweetness of the watermelon paired complemented the savouriness of the other ingredients and the wok hei of the fried rice itself. Served in a watermelon bowl, this dish is definitely one for sharing!

No Thai restaurant is complete without delicious tom yum dishes, and Gin Khao Bistro doubles down on this. The Sweet Tom Yum Garlic Chicken ($12.80) had a perfect balance of sweetness, sourness and spiciness. The sweetness of the tom yum glaze lent a nice contrast to the garlicky tender chicken.

Back by popular demand, the Tom Yum Spam Fries ($10.80) is extremely addictive. Be careful when sharing it with friends, as you may end up fighting for the last piece!

Two Chefs Bar

DSCF2604-13

This bar brings together both Mexican and Italian cuisines, offering you the best of both cultures. My favourite dish was the Mixed Fajitas ($30), where marinated beef and chicken slices are served together with mixed bell peppers and onions on a sizzling hot plate which keeps the meal warm throughout. Let your creative juices flow and assemble your own tortilla, with toppings such as guacamole, shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa. Customize it to suit your taste buds!

DSCF2608-14

The Chorizo and Salami Pizza ($26) is topped with salami, mexican chorizo, fresh red chillies and baby spinach. It had a beautifully thin and crispy crust which still supported the ample amount of meat, sauce and cheese on it. Those who cannot take spice should be wary of the fresh red chillies on the pizza, which can catch unsuspecting victims off guard with its spiciness!

DSCF2599-12

The Prawn and Chicken Avocado Salad ($22) features fresh tiger prawns, grilled chicken strips, feta cheese, olives and fresh avocado on a bed of arugula, all tossed together in a refreshingly zesty citrus dressing. This is the perfect lunch item for all who want a substantial, but clean, meal.

Mykonos On The Bay

Take a seat at Mykonos On The Bay and its white and blue hues will transport you to the serene Greek island of Mykonos! The restaurant has a casual, laid-back ambience, inviting you to rest and relax as you enjoy classic Greek delights.

DSCF2628-18

First up was the Mousaka ($27), a casserole consisting of multiple layers of beef and eggplant which are cooked separately before being put together. This cooking method ensures that both elements of the dish are not overcooked. To tie it all together, the Mousaka is topped with a creamy, buttery bechamel sauce. I expected the dish to be on the heavier side, but was pleasantly surprised by how light and tasty it was!

DSCF2622-17

Next was the Stifado ($35). Expect braised lamb shank served on a bed of potato puree and caramelized onions, topped with crispy fried shallots. The lamb was so tender that a fork is the only utensil you really need to tear the meat apart! Better still, the lamb juices soaked into the potato puree, making sure that none of it goes to waste as you devour this dish.

DSCF2640-19

Finish off the meal with the Pagoto Giaourti ($14.90). House-made Greek yogurt ice cream is served with a sponge cake and topped with honey, fresh berries and walnuts.
The yogurt ice cream offers a tanginess which balances out the sweetness of the dessert, with the berries and walnuts adding a satisfying crunch as well.

Miska Café

At Miska Café, expect a wide array of Mediterranean and Western dishes which will leave you scratching your head trying to decide what to order. We tried out their new selection of rice bowls, starting with the Miska Super Rice Bowl ($23).

DSCF2654-21

The bowl consists of grilled prime ribeye steak, sweet corn, broccoli, avocado, baby spinach and a grilled lime on top of your choice of fragrant coconut or rich butter rice. The chargrilled lime was something new for me and I thoroughly enjoyed how grilling the citrus fruit deepened flavours and heightened the sweetness of it, adding a light, zesty finish to the entire rice bowl.

DSCF2658-22

Who doesn’t love crispy salmon skin? I know I do. The Salmon Rice Bowl ($23) came with what could be considered a salmon steak that was perfectly seared — the skin was crisp and the salmon was not overcooked. Paired with the other ingredients in the bowl, this dish did not disappoint at all.

DSCF2672-26

The Mexican Chicken Rice Bowl ($21) comes with a chicken marinated in a warm, slightly spicy red sauce, which paired exceptionally well with the cool, refreshing mango and tomato salsa. The black beans and beetroot hummus also helped make the rice bowl much heartier and satisfying.

Rock Bar – Burger & Steakhouse

If you’re a sports fan, Rock Bar is the destination for you. The sports bar serves up delectable Western cuisine and a wide selection of drinks (both alcoholic and for the designated driver). What better way is there to enjoy the weekend football game?

DSCF2686-30

We ordered the Prime Ribeye Steak ($34), which is 200 days grain-fed and served with herb butter. The beef was grilled superbly, tender and juicy in the middle with a nice crust. Dip the steak into the herb butter for even more flavour!

DSCF2692-31
DSCF2676-27

Even the most serious of burger cravings will be satisfied by the Black Truffle Wagyu Burger ($26) The patty is made from 100% wagyu beef, making it ooze with delicious beef fat. Paired with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and truffle mayonnaise, this burger is definitely one not to miss.

If you are in the mood for something lighter, then the Mixed Veggie and Bocconcini Salad ($16) is great for you. Bocconcini are small balls of fresh mozzarella cheese mix pops!

Greenwood Fish Market

Greenwood Fish Market operates both as a wholesale seafood market and a restaurant, which enables the restaurant to directly import their produce and ensure that only the freshest of seafood is served at their establishment. We were treated to a trio of lobster dishes featuring freshly procured Boston lobster.

DSCF2748-40

The Lobster Burger ($69.95) consists of a whole deshelled lobster, portobello mushroom, melted gruyere cheese and brioche buns that are made fresh every service. The sweetness of the lobster is contrasted by the mild sharpness of the gruyere, while the soft, fluffy brioche buns carried a slight sweetness that I enjoyed very much.

DSCF2738-39

The Lobster & Crab Meat Risotto ($49.95) was silky smooth, with large chunks of seafood. Each bite was as good as the last. Despite being pretty full already, I simply could not resist having several spoonfuls of the creamy arborio rice and fresh lobster meat!

DSCF2731-37

If pasta is more your style, try the Saffron Lobster Pappardelle ($49.95). The broad, flat noodles catch loads of the saffron cream sauce, which is infused with delicious lobster flavour. The inclusion of fresh rocket and scallions add a sharp, aromatic element to the dish which cuts the richness perfectly.

Sabio by the Sea, Tapas Bar and Grill

Sabio by the Sea is famous for its Josper grill oven, which uses hot charcoal for fuel. This unique cooking method imparts a smoky flavour to the grilled meat and seafood dishes.

DSCF2789-45

This was especially prominent in their KETOMan Platter ($48), which consists of five artisanal sausages that range from a spicy chorizo to a milder smoked pork and garlic sausage. Pair each sausage with either Dijon Mustard or Garlic Aioli for heaps more flavour!

DSCF2806-48

The Paella Pescado ($29/49) is packed with fresh seafood, such as calamari, mussels, sea bass and shrimp. Despite the different cooking time of each protein, each ingredient was perfectly cooked. My favourite part of this dish was actually the rice, which absorbed all the flavour of the seafood and spices.

DSCF2812-49

Complete the delightful meal with Sabio’s Sangria, which is available in both red and white wine versions ($12 per glass / $49 per jug). This chilled cocktail is a great way to beat the afternoon heat!
