NH sets COVID records with 343 hospitalizations, 1,192 new cases as Thanksgiving week arrives

CONCORD — New Hampshire health officials reported single-day record numbers of current hospitalizations and new cases for COVID-19 patients Monday, according to state data.

The number of current hospitalizations was 343 Monday, breaking a record of 334 set Jan. 1. The pandemic total of hospitalizations increased to 2,068.

New Hampshire also reported 1,192 new cases for Saturday, breaking the single-day record of 1,149 from Dec. 23, 2020. The state also reported 603 new positive test results for the virus Sunday and 1,092 cases from Friday. A total of 790 people from the new cases reported over three days were under age 18.

New Hampshire reported having 7,966 active cases as of Monday and a pandemic total of 153,934. The seven-day average number of new cases from Nov. 16-22 was 993, a 22% increase over the previous seven-day period, according to state data.

The state reported 10 additional deaths Monday, raising the state's total to 1,672.

The new cases are people who reside in Rockingham (559), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (514), Merrimack (293), Strafford (259), Sullivan (199), Grafton (178), Cheshire (175), Carroll (128), Belknap (122), and Coos (67) counties, and in the cities of Manchester (266) and Nashua (254). The county of residence was being determined for 141 new cases.

Eight of the 10 new deaths in New Hampshire were people identified as being age 60 or older, including one man in Strafford County and one woman in Rockingham County, as well as one man and one woman from Cheshire County, two men and one woman from Hillsborough County and a Sullivan County woman. The two people who died identified as younger than 60 were a male and female from Hillsborough County.

New Hampshire reported 54.9% of the state's residents (746,937) were fully vaccinated and 60.7% of residents (825,216) had received at least one dose.
