Ridgeway, N.Y. (WHAM) - A bridge that was closed to traffic for repairs last fall has re-opened.

The NYS DOT announced Friday that the Knowlesville Road bridge over the Erie Canal in Ridgeway, Orleans County, is back open.

Starting last fall, DOT crews worked with the NYS Canal Corporation to replace the floor and trusses of the bridge. The bridge was originally built in 1910.

The bridge originally had a weight limit of six ton, but an upcoming bridge inspection should allow all vehicles to travel over it.

Approximately 1,100 vehicles drive over the bridge each day.
