Bloomfield's LiquidPiston Inc. has launched a second equity crowdfunding effort to continue its development of engine combustion technology.

LiquidPiston, which makes rotary combustion engines, said it will again raise funds from accredited and non-accredited investors through Wefunder.

Investor interest has grown since the Bloomfield company’s “successful” fundraising campaign that ended in April 2017, officials said.

LiquidPiston says it completed the first phase of a program funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, which awarded the company $2.5 million for the second phase running through October. The contract focuses on building LiquidPiston’s engine power and efficiency.

The company’s next growth phase will be to provide its technology for large-scale production and sales.
