Coronavirus Seniors, Staff Cases At Hillsborough Nursing Homes

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Here are the latest coronavirus cases and deaths for both staff members and senior residents living at nursing homes and long-term care facilities in Hillsborough and Somerset County as of Monday, May 25. Gov. Phil Murphy said last week that his administration was moving to a new reporting metric which now separates the cases between staff members from residents.

The state has a dashboard set up that tracks the number of cases statewide, including how many cases and fatalities involve long-term care facilities. The latest in Hillsborough show 155 cases for senior residents and 74 positive staff members spread among the 5 impacted facilities. There have been 55 senior resident deaths and zero staff member deaths at these facilities as reported by the New Jersey Department of Health on Monday.

The largest outbreak in Hillsborough is Foothill Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with 83 positive cases and 34 deaths for seniors and 19 positive cases and zero deaths for staff members.

Comparing Hillsborough to Somerset County, the latest in Somerset County show 945 senior cases and 555 total staff cases are spread among the 32 impacted facilities. There have been 279 deaths of senior and 6 deaths of staff members at these facilities as reported by the NNJDOH.

The largest outbreak in Somerset County remains at Lyons Campus of the VA New Jersey Health Care System in Basking Ridge. The report shows 126 cases and 39 deaths of seniors and 44 cases and five deaths of staff members.

Here are the facilities in Somerset County that have residents positive for the coronavirus, followed by the deaths of residents (in parenthesis), followed by the number of COVID-19 positive staff, followed by the number of COVID-19 confirmed deaths of staff members (in parenthesis) that have happened at those facilities. Statewide, 20,771 positive cases for seniors and 9,681 positive cases for staff members of the coronavirus have been identified at 536 long-term care facilities. There have been 4,768 deaths total of seniors and staff at these facilities.
