Franklin police are trying to figure out how a bowling ball crashed through the window of a school bus.
There were no students on board, and the driver was not injured. The ball crashed into the bus Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Central and Sanborn streets.
Police recovered the multicolored bowling ball and are now looking for the owner. Investigators said they want to know if it was intentionally thrown at the bus or if it was an accident.
"In that vicinity, there aren't really bridges or overpasses or even porches where someone could have thrown it off, so we're not honestly and truly sure, but certainly, the most important part of this whole thing is how serious this could have been," police Chief David Goldstein.
