Insomnia Cookies suspect charged with aggravated robbery

ST. CLOUD — The man suspected of robbing a St. Cloud cookie store at gunpoint early Tuesday  has been charged with a felony, according to a criminal complaint filed in Stearns County District Court.

Ka'Mare Alanta Harris, 23, is charged with one count of aggravated robbery in the first degree. 

Harris is suspected of robbing the St. Cloud Insomnia Cookies store at 305 Fifth Ave. S early Tuesday morning. An employee told police a man came into the store, pointed a gun at her and demanded money. The man took the cash and fled.

St. Cloud police  reviewed video surveillance footage from the incident and identified Harris as the suspect. 

The store employee identified Harris in a photo lineup as the person who robbed her, according to the complaint. 

Officers then spoke with a woman who has a harassment restraining order against Harris. She told police that Harris had been at her home, located a few blocks from Insomnia Cookies, late Monday. 

The witness's description of what Harris's clothing at that time was consistent with the robber's clothing, according to the complaint. 

On Wednesday, Harris was found in Baxter and arrested. Harris then admitted to committing the robbery during an interview with police, according to the complaint.

Harris is held in Stearns County Jail. He is expected to make his first court appearance Friday.
