KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Move over Kansas City drivers, bicyclists now have their own lane — at least in one area of the metro.

Bike lanes have been added to Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, Mo.

Bike-Walk-KC said the Boulevard is a popular route into downtown Kansas City, Mo., for commuters from Kansas City, Kan., and northern Johnson County.

“Having the facilities not only encourages more people to bike, it also gives them safer places to do it,” said Eric Rogers, Bike-Walk-KC. “It gives people another option besides just driving to work alone and gives people an option for recreation fitness exercise.”

Kansas City is expected to add nearly 12 miles of bike lanes throughout downtown KCMO in 2014.
